Liverpool 4 Arsenal 2 (agg 5-3); Chelsea 2 Fenerbahce 0 (agg 3-2): Liverpool have booked their place in the Champions League semi-final along with Chelsea after yet another barnstorming European night at the home of the five-time champions.

After their last two games - including last week's first leg - both ended in 1-1 draws, few would have predicted a six goal thriller, but in an open and expansive game there was barely time to draw breath.

The homeside's slender advantage of an away goal from the game in the Emirates Stadium counted for nothing after 13 minutes when Abou Diaby rewarded a rampant Arsenal by beating Pepe Reina at his near post.

Advantage Arsenal, but not for long, as Sami Hyypia rose in the 30th minute to power home Steven Gerrard's corner kick.  Had it remained that way, extra-time would have beckoned but there was still a long way to go for both sets of fans.

Fernando Torres, the new Liverpool talisman, fired home in the 69th minute to put Rafael Benitez's side in the driving seat but substitute Theo Walcott was intent on his say and burst from the edge of his own box, beat four Liverpool players and squared for Emmanuel Adebayor to finish with just six minutes remaining.

The hosts challenge looked dead but Liverpool's own substitute, Ryan Babel, was keen to have his say and forced Kolo Toure into a desperate and illegal challenge in the box.  Gerrard rifled the ball into the top corner and joy turned to agony for visiting fans.

The game was up for Arsenal when, as they threw everyone up field, Babel latched on to a clearance and slotted past Almunia.

At Stamford Bridge Chelsea beat Fenerbahce 2-0 to win 3-2 on aggregate. Michael Ballack got them off to the perfect start after four minutes but Avram Grant's side had to wait until the 88th minute for Frank Lampard to make sure with a second.
