Soccer:St Patrick's Athletic wasted little time in their search for a new manager as Pete Mahon comes in to replace Jeff Kenna who resigned from the Richmond Park hot seat last week.

Maurice O’Driscoll stepped in for last weekend’s league defeat against Galway United and will continue his caretaker manager’s role for this evening’s Setanta Sports Cup game against Derry City at the Brandywell.

Mahon will be officially unveiled at a press conference tomorrow and takes charge for the remainder of the season.

“I’m delighted to have a man of Pete’s experience in charge of the team at this point in the season,” said Richard Sadlier, St Pat’s chief executive. “Hopefully he can make an immediate impact, beginning with this Friday’s game at home against Cork City.”
