Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has further strengthened his midfield with the loan signing of Portugal international Maniche - the third time in his career he has linked up with the player.
Maniche has joined from Dynamo Moscow until the end of the season, when Chelsea will consider whether to spend up to £5 million on his acquisition.
The midfielder, who also played under Mourinho at Benfica and Porto, will provide cover while Michael Essien is injured or away at the African Nations Cup finals.
"The 28-year-old joins until the end of the season from Dynamo Moscow. He has not played in European competition this season so is eligible for UEFA Champions League action," said a statement on Chelsea's website.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp's bid to save Pompey from relegation has seen him sign Poland striker Emmanuel Olisadebe until the end of the season.
The Nigerian-born 27-year-old, who has made 25 international appearances, joins from Panathinaikos after a two-day trial at Fratton Park last month.
"I am very happy to be joining Portsmouth and excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League, which for me is the best league in the world," said the player.
"I hope to play and do well for the team and it feels good to be back after my trial last month."
Stoke have agreed a permanent £100,000 deal for on-loan West Ham winger Luke Chadwick.
The 25-year-old has impressed during his six months at the Britannia Stadium and the Potters have fought off competition from Watford for his signature.
After a medical former Manchester United man Chadwick will sign a deal until the summer of 2008, with an option for another year.
Director of football John Rudge said: "We are very pleased to get Luke signed.
"He is a player I brought to the club at the start of the season and Johan Boskamp wanted to sign him permanently.
"Luke has a good background and excellent pedigree, he played for Manchester United in the Premiership and also in the Champions League and he has been a very good player for us this season."
