Scottish round-up:A Scott McDonald double helped Celtic stretch their lead over Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League to four points with a 3-1 victory over Hibernian at Parkhead.
The Australian international slammed the home side in to a third minute lead and when skipper Stephen McManus grabbed a second from close range six minutes later, it looked all over for the Parkhead visitors.
However, Hibernian skipper Rob Jones pulled a goal back with a header in the 17th minute to give the Easter Road men a glimmer of hope but McDonald grabbed his second 15 minutes from time late to seal a deserved victory.
Rangers had earlier spurned the opportunity to go top for a couple of hours after fighting out a stalemate at Aberdeen.
Charlie Mulgrew’s well-struck free-kick for the home side was the highlight of a low-key first half with Rangers teenager John Fleck squandering a couple of shots at the other end.
Bertrand Bossu replaced the injured Jamie Langfield in the Aberdeen goal seven minutes after the break.
Nacho Novo and Kris Boyd, who came on as second-half substitutes, had opportunities to win the game but in the end a share of the spoils was probably a fair result.
