Wigan want to take Celtic striker Scott McDonald on a season-long loan, according to agent Willie McKay.
Boss Roberto Martinez has reportedly been impressed by the Hoops' top goalscorer and is keen for the move to go ahead before the transfer window closes at the start of next week.
The move is being put together by Scottish agent McKay, who believes a spell in the Barclays Premier League could send the valuation of the Australian international soaring.
He told the Daily Record: "Negotiations are at an early stage. Roberto is a big admirer of Scott and believes he would score a lot of goals in the Premier League.
"A loan might not sound like the ideal situation but if Scott goes down to England and makes his mark, his value will shoot through the roof."
