Miller to miss Moscow game

Kenny Miller is definitely out of Celtic's Champions League qualifier against Spartak Moscow at Parkhead tomorrow night.

Kenny Miller is definitely out of Celtic's Champions League qualifier against Spartak Moscow at Parkhead tomorrow night.

The Scotland striker missed Saturday's 5-0 win over Hearts with a hamstring injury but appeared with the Hoops players at training this morning.

But manager Gordon Strachan claimed Miller was simply "messing about" and confirmed the former Rangers striker is the only player out for the second leg of the third qualifier which stands at 1-1 after the first game in the Luzhniki stadium.

Strachan has dismissed suggestions  Miller will be leaving the club before Friday's transfer deadline.

Miller, who has failed to score on a regular basis at Parkhead since signing from Wolves last summer, has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park.

Strachan scoffed at the idea that Miller would be on his way, saying: "The transfer list thing went out in the 1970s, it doesn't happen here so it's a mysterious one.

"I was having a cup of tea and a rhubarb tart when I saw it and I nearly spluttered. Nobody is on the transfer list and we don't want to see anybody going out the door. We love our squad the way it is.

"I hope Kenny is still here on Saturday morning. I definitely hope so, I can't see him going anywhere. I like Kenny, he has done very well for us."

Strachan also insists that there are unlikely to be any new arrivals at Celtic Park before Friday.

He said: "I can't see anyone coming in although I can't guarantee it. Something fantastic might turn up but I can't see it.

"As for people going out, it's not for me to decide that, it's for other people to make a bid for players but there have been no bids in recent days.

"If the bid is astronomical or beneficial then we must think of that because it's a business.  But I would imagine that our targets will be in January next year."

Provisional squad:
Boruc, Wilson, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, Nakamura, Scott Brown, Donati, McGeady, Riordan, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Killen, McDonald, Zurawski, Mark Brown, Hartley, Sno, O'Dea, Kennedy.
