Nasri has right attitude, insists Wenger

Soccer: Arsene Wenger claims Samir Nasri has a 'very good attitude' as speculation rages regarding his future

Soccer:Arsene Wenger claims Samir Nasri has a 'very good attitude' as speculation rages regarding his future. The French playmaker has hinted he would welcome a move away from Arsenal this summer, with it his ambition to represent a club that secures silverware on a regular basis.

He has shelved contract talks as he weighs up his options, meaning he has just 12 months left to run on his current deal at the Emirates. That situation could be considered alarming to the Gunners, with it feasible that they could see Nasri walk away for nothing next summer.

Wenger remains determined to avoid such a situation, with it his intention to see the France international tied down on a fresh terms.

He is keen to prevent the transfer gossip from spiralling out of control, and insists Nasri's showing in a 4-0 victory over a Malaysia XI on Wednesday proves he remains fully focused on his duties at Arsenal.

"He has always had a very good attitude," said Wenger. "We are a big club with many good young players so we are confronted with many rumours and speculation. But it doesn't affect much what's happening inside the club. We have to live with that and you could see when he [Samir] played that he wasn't disturbed by that."

Wenger is also convinced that his board will back him in his Nasri stance, despite the very real threat of losing the 24-year-old on a free transfer next summer.

He added: "I think so, I believe that is no problem. It is a technical decision. On one hand people say I don't spend enough and when I spend people say I spend too much. It's very difficult to find the right medium.

"What is important is that the club has a good team and is in a strong financial situation. The decisions are dictated by financial restrictions but not only by that. The most important thing is that the team is right and our financial situation is right as well."

Nasri received a warm reception in the Far East as he entered Arsenal's opening pre-season fixture as a substitute, and Wenger is confident the club's supporters will not turn on him.

Asked how the fans will react to the transfer saga, he said: "Very well. I believe that everybody who loves Arsenal wants all our strong players to stay at the club."
