Improving Bray Wanderers secured their first SSE Airtricity League Premier Division away win of the season at Eamonn Deacy Park. Dylan Connolly and Chris Lyons grabbed the goals for Harry Kenny’s side, who outfoxed a disappointing Galway United.

Since beating champions Dundalk, Tommy Dunne’s charges have suffered poor losses against St Patrick’s Athletic and Bray. It has been an encouraging spell for Bray, who edge further away from the relegation zone.

Galway went close a couple of times during a disappointing opening period, with a sixth-minute Marc Ludden header hitting the woodwork.

Ryan Connolly’s 33rd minute pass released Vinny Faherty, who forced a fine save from Bray goalkeeper Peter Cherrie. On the stroke of half-time, Bray pounced to punish a defensive lapse as former Ipswich Town youngster Dylan Connolly supplied a crisp finish.

Twelve minutes after the restart, a Devaney free kick was met by a Walsh header, but Cherrie made a routine save.

A deflected Faherty attempt in the 75th minute proved to be Galway’s next chance as Bray, prompted by skipper Conor Kenna, defended well. Two minutes from time, substitute Chris Lyons sealed the deal with an opportunistic finish at the back post.
