It was an opportunity missed by Cork City to close the gap on Dundalk in the Premier Division title race, after they were unable to break down Keith Long’s Bohemians side at Turners Cross.

Following their loss in midweek at home to Sligo, John Caulfield’s charges came into the game knowing a victory was crucial to get their title challenge back on track.

On an overall level, Cork will feel this is an opportunity missed.

They did have chances to win the game, including a close-range shot from Sean Maguire which was saved and a shot from Gavan Holohan early in the second half, which the Kilkenny man put over the bar from point-blank range.

City though, over the entire duration of the game, didn’t do enough to break down the Bohs defence, with their play in the attacking third lacking in it’s usual intensity.

Cork, who can ill afford any more slip ups if they want to keep their title charge alive, will now make the trip to Derry on Monday night, in what will be a very tough test at the Brandywell.

Caulfield can ill afford any more slip ups if his side want to catch Dundalk.
