Drogheda United continued to hold the Indian sign over Derry City last night, goalkeeper, Gabriel Sava, enjoying a spectacular performance in goal for the visitors.
Sava denied Derry striker, Rory Patterson several times as dominant City bossed the opening period.
Having saved a Patterson free-kick in the 11th minute, the goalkeeper then diverted another shot from the striker over his crossbar in the 29th minute. But from the resulting corner, the home side deservedly moved into the driving seat.
Kevin Deery floated the ball into the danger area and as the Drogheda defence failed to clear, Ryan McBride rose at the back post to head the ball firmly home.
Sava saved Drogheda again in the 55th minute following a superb Derry passing move on the left flank.
Barry McNamee set up a chance for Mark Griffin after 64 minutes but Sava againrescued his side.
But the failure to extend their lead with another goal cost the home side dearly when Drogheda equalised with 10 minutes remaining.
Drogheda won a corner on the right and Mick Daly rose to glance the ball home at the near post for the equaliser.
