Goals from Danny Furlong and Daryl Horgan helped Cork City to their first league win of the season at Turner’s Cross.

Already through to the semi-finals of the Setanta Cup, Tommy Dunne’s side are now six games unbeaten, but they had to work hard to overturn a first half deficit against a Bohs side who again showed enough to allay fears their young squad might struggle this term.

Bohs had taken the lead on the stroke of half-time, captain Owen Heary turning home a nicely-weighted Ryan McEvoy corner.

Unfortunately, however, it was marred by an unsavoury pitch invasion by a handful of the visiting support. One fan was wrestled to the ground after traversing the length of the field, and was subsequently arrested.

It came at the end of a first half where Cork failed to do themselves justice, but the home team were transformed from the restart and levelled the game within six second half minutes thanks to Furlong, who finished off a Daryl Kavanagh through ball from eight yards.

With the traffic all flowing in one direction, it didn’t take long for City to take the lead. Kavanagh provided the assist once again, with Horgan slotting home despite the best efforts of Dean Delany. Both goalscorers came close to adding some security to the scoreline soon after, with Furlong also rattling the bar with five minutes to go.
