Limerick FC 4-3 Bohemian FC

An amazing encounter at the Markets Field saw ten man Limerick FC come out on top 4-3 against Bohemians.

Vinny Faherty gave the basement side their lead with a powerful header on 26 minutes from a pin-point Ian Turner cross before the visitors drew level on 38 minutes through an Ismahil Akinade back post header from a Jake Kelly corner.

Limerick looked to have a mammoth task in front of them on 48 minutes when Patrick Kanyuka got his marching orders. Beaten for pace by Akinade the big centre half hauled down the striker and saw red. Jake Kelly slotted home the resultant penalty for the visitors sending keeper Hall the wrong way.

Limerick however were back in the game six minutes later when substitute Sean Russell struck a goal of the season contender to the top corner from 20 yards that gave Dean Delaney no chance.

Keith Long’s charges however went back in front on 67 minutes when Kelly broke the offside trap and easily finished past Limerick keeper Hall.

However, the ten men of Limerick picked themselves up again and were back on level terms through Lee J Lynch with a bullet strike from the edge of the area after Delaney’s weak punch from a Tracey cross.

Two minutes later Limerick completed a memorable comeback. Dean Clarke was upended by Derek Prendergast in the area and referee Grant pointed to the spot. Shane Tracey stood up but his penalty hit the upright but luckily for Limerick rebounded off keeper Delaney to secure an unlikely three points for Martin Russell's side.
