Bray Wanderers 2 UCD 2: A double from striker David McMillan earned UCD their first point of the season after five games against a Bray Wanderers side reduced to ten men after the controversial sending off of goalkeeper Darren Quigley in the dying seconds of the first half.
The Seagulls had the perfect start on four minutes when a cross by Dean Zambra was deflected to veteran striker Jason Byrne who fired home from six yards.
UCD drew level on 20 minutes when McMillan put the finishing touch to Gary Burke’s inviting low cross.
College had their noses in front in the first minute of added time when Quigley was harshly red-carded for a “foul” inside the box on Burke. The resulting penalty was slotted past stand-in ’keeper Daire Doyle by McMillan for his second goal of the night to give the Students a fortuitous half-time lead.
Though down to 10 men, Bray pressed forward and they had chances to equalise before sub John Mulroy fired home after 80 minutes.
