Sligo Rovers 4 Wexford Youths 1

Raffaele Cretaro scored one and created two as Sligo Rovers eased past Wexford Youths at the Showgrounds.

It took Rovers just 23 minutes to open up the visitors, with Cretaro claiming his third goal in three games. The striker latched onto a Richards pass after initially winning the ball in the air, and he fired past Graham Doyle in the Wexford nets.

The same two players combined for the second ten minutes later, as Cretaro found Richards, who somehow wriggled through some watery defence inside the area, and his effort snuck under Doyle.

The pick of the goals came just before the break, as Jimmy Keohane’s superb pass released Martin, who skilfully lifted the ball over Doyle and into the net.

Danny Furlong pulled one back for Wexford early in the second half with a strike from outside the area.

But substitute Jaanai Gordon claimed his first goal for the club in the closing stages when he headed home Cretaro’s cross to wrap it up.
