PSV Eindhoven have confirmed that talks over a loan move for Newcastle striker Albert Luque have ended without a deal.
"In principle, we can forget that," PSV technical director Stan Valckx told De Telegraaf newspaper.
PSV wanted to sign the 28-year-old Spaniard until the end of the season and Luque — out of favour at St James' Park — was also keen on the move, but Newcastle have rejected PSV's offer.
PSV coach Ronald Koeman remains keen to strengthen in attack and will now consider other options.
