Sevilla ended Steve McClaren's tenure as Middlesbrough manager on a sour note by handing out a 4-0 drubbing to his young side in the Uefa Cup final in Eindhoven.

Sevilla secured their first European trophy in style as McClaren's side failed to show up on this his 250th game in charge of the Riverside club.

Luis Fabiano's 26th-minute header gave the Spaniards a deserved 1-0 halftime lead as they made all the running in the opening period.

Goalkeeper Andres Palop kept them ahead with a great block from a Mark Viduka volley in the 52nd minute as Middlesbrough, also appearing in their first European final, looked a little more adventurous after the break.
