Portsmouth have yet to contact Middlesbrough to follow up their tentative interest in want-away goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, despite manager Harry Redknapp identifying the 33-year-old Australian as a potential January signing.
Schwarzer shocked Boro by handing in a transfer request last week and was told by boss Steve McClaren he would be allowed to depart.
And although Redknapp is keen, admitting a deal could be done if Portsmouth could meet the club and player's financial demands, there appears to have been little progress.
Schwarzer's agent, Barry Silkman, said: "I've absolutely no idea what's going to happen.
"There's been no direct contact with Middlesbrough on that front. They (Portsmouth) definitely haven't contacted Middlesbrough so I don't expect anything to happen at the minute."
The arrival of new club co-owner Alexandre Gaydamak has injected funds into Portsmouth who are fighting to stay in the Barclays Premiership.
They have made Zimbabwean striker Benjani Mwaruwari a club record £4.1million signing and are being linked with deals for Tottenham trio Pedro Mendes, Sean Davis and Noe Pamarot, and Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson.
Former Tottenham and Wolves striker Steffen Iversen is currently on trial at Fratton Park, and is available on a free transfer after leaving Norwegian side Valerenga.
Meanwhile Blackburn have agreed to release Matt Jansen from his contract after the striker failed to force his way back into manager Mark Hughes' first-team plans.
The 28-year-old Jansen started just 13 Premiership games since recovering from a motorcycle accident in 2002 and had been shunted further down the pecking order at Ewood Park.
Chairman John Williams said: "Given Matt's contribution over the years we feel we should not stand in his way. He needs a new challenge and on behalf of everyone connected with the club we wish him well."
