The Republic of Ireland squad continued their preparations for Saturday's European qualifier against Wales at Croke Park by training at the match venue today for the second time.

Manager Steve Staunton has no serious injury concerns, although West Bromwich Albion defender Paul McShane continues to nurse a sore ankle but should be fit to train at Malahide tomorrow.

Stephen Ireland arrived at the team's Dublin hotel today having missed yesterday's session because of an ankle complaint but the manager has no lasting fears regarding the Manchester City midfielder's availability.

FAI consultant Bobby Robson revealed Anthony Stokes took a minor knock to his ankle but, again, the Sunderland striker is not rated as a doubt.

Birmingham City goalkeeper Colin Doyle trained having arrived in this morning as cover for Wayne Henderson who yesterday withdrew from the squad with thumb ligament damage.

Management and players continue their preparations tomorrow with a morning training session in Malahide, just up the road from their base in Portmarnock.

Wales striker Craig Bellamy is relishing the prospect of playing at a packed Croke Park this weekend and appreciates the historical significance of the occasion.

"I've been over to Croke Park a couple of times," he said. "I watched a Gaelic game over there and I watched the rugby game against England.

"I know the history and a lot of us as Welsh players realise how important it is to be playing football there. Ireland will try to use that to their advantage but it'll be special for us.

"I come over to Ireland quite a lot and the media are giving Ireland a little bit of stick at the moment so I'm sure they want a good result.

"But we're not the greatest either at the moment and we need three points before we go to play San Marino the following Wednesday.

Speaking to the BBC, he added:  "This is a very tough group and we've still got to play Germany twice, so we've got to start picking up points."

Bellamy and his team-mates arrive in Dublin tomorrow.  Yeovil's Arron Davis and Shrewsbury's David Edwards will return to their clubs for games this weekend before rejoining the squad on Sunday ahead of Wednesday's game with San Marino.
