England could be without Michael Owen for the rest of the World Cup after the Newcastle striker was taken away on a stretcher a little more than a minute into their final Group B game against Sweden.
Owen fell awkwardly and seemed to twist his right knee as he went down, forcing coach Sven-Goran Eriksson to send on Peter Crouch as a fourth minute substitute.
He was hoping to avoid using Crouch since the lanky striker already has one yellow card and another would rule him out of this weekend's second round match against Germany or Ecuador.
