Celtic midfielder Stilian Petrov has signed an extension to his deal which will keep him at Parkhead until the summer of 2009.
The Bulgaria international had been strongly linked with a move away from Glasgow this month. But the 26-year-old has ended all speculation over his future and his extension also has the option of a further year.
Celtic Park manager Gordon Strachan had been desperate to keep hold of Petrov, who has been at the club since the summer of 1999.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "Clearly, everyone at the club is delighted that we have secured the services of such a quality player.
"Stilian has already been a tremendous servant to the club and will be a key player for Celtic in the years ahead.
"The Celtic board is pleased to retain such a talent at Celtic Park and we will continue to do all we can to support Gordon in his plans for the future.
"This signing confirms the board's high ambitions for the club going forward."
