Spurs have signed Luka Modric and Giovani dos Santos so far this summer to bolster their midfield, and Podolski would offer another option there or up front.

However, Ramos expected to allow Anthony Gardner to leave, with promoted Hull among the clubs interested in taking the central defender.

Spurs have confirmed a pre-season friendly with Roma on August 10th, the week before their competitive programme gets under way.
