Arsenal (11) v Sheff Utd (20)Arsenal captain Thierry Henry looks likely to return after recovering from a foot injury. Henry and fellow forward Robin van Persie missed Sunday's victory at Manchester United but are available, though youngster Theo Walcott is doubtful having suffered a shoulder injury in a reserve game against Portsmouth. Philippe Senderos, Abou Diaby, Lauren and Gael Clichy are all out.

Sheffield United have nine players out, including goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, midfielders Nick Montgomery and Michael Tonge, and striker Danny Webber. Also sidelined are defenders Craig Short, Alan Wright and Derek Geary and two other forwards in Steve Kabba and Neil Shipperley, all due to a variety of injuries.

Aston Villa (5) v Charlton (18)

Aston Villa are hopeful midfielder Gavin McCann will be fit following a scan on the calf injury suffered during the midweek Carling Cup tie at Scunthorpe. Central defender Martin Laursen is poised to return after being rested in midweek and manager Martin O'Neill has to decide between Laursen, former skipper Olof Mellberg and Liam Ridgewell for the two centre-back positions.

Charlton welcome defender Hermann Hreidarsson back from a three-game ban. Midfielders Matt Holland (rib) and Bryan Hughes (groin) are doubtful, while Andy Reid, Souleymane Diawara, Omar Pouso (all hamstring) and Jonathan Fortune (toe) are working their way back to match fitness. Djimi Traore (fractured leg), Gonzalo Sorondo (back) and American Cory Gibbs (knee) and winger Jerome Thomas (foot) are all out.

Fulham (8) v Chelsea (3)

Fulham have doubts over Brian McBride (ankle), Papa Bouba Diop (thigh) and Carlos Bocanegra (groin) — all three will be given late fitness tests before the game. Luis Boa Morte (cheekbone), Jimmy Bullard (knee), Ahmad Elrich (knee), Simon Elliott (calf), Philippe Christanval and Mark Pembridge (calf) are definitely out.

Michael Ballack starts his three-match ban for his red card against Liverpool so Arjen Robben, who returned from a calf injury against the Reds, could be the man to replace him at the head of Chelsea's midfield diamond. Joe Cole will not be in the squad. He aggravated a knee injury on his comeback against Werder Bremen and will not be rushed back.

Liverpool (9) v Tottenham (16)

Liverpool hope winger Jermaine Pennant will be fit after missing Wednesday's victory over Newcastle. The former Arsenal midfielder pulled out of the game after suffering a twinge in the warm-up but boss Rafael Benitez has said it is not too serious.

Spurs are without striker Dimitar Berbatov for the fourth successive game (groin) while Steed Malbranque and Aaron Lennon are sidelined with groin and knee injuries, respectively. Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly is fit again after a groin problem.

Man City (17) v West Ham (12)

Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce is pondering a recall for Paul Dickov, with strike duo Georgios Samaras and Bernardo Corradi having mustered just a single goal between them so far this season. DaMarcus Beasley could be handed a first start while Matthew Mills is back in the squad after missing the Carling Cup defeat at Chesterfield.

West Ham are missing defenders James Collins and Tyrone Mears. Collins aggravated a groin strain in midweek while Mears has a calf problem. Jonathan Spector is the most obvious choice to cover but Hammers boss Alan Pardew revealed he will not start due to a lack of match fitness.

Middlesbrough (14) v Blackburn (13)

Jonathan Woodgate is set to make his home debut for Middlesbrough against Blackburn after being one of eight men rested for Wednesday night's Carling Cup defeat by Notts County, most of whom will return against Rovers. Robert Huth, who made his own debut in midweek, is unlikely to figure, while George Boateng (knee), Stewart Downing (groin), Julio Arca (broken foot), Ugo Ehiogu (Achilles) and Chris Riggott (ankle) are all still out.

Blackburn striker Jason Roberts (groin) continues to struggle, as does midfielder Steven Reid, who has a back problem that led to him visiting a chiropractor this week. Centre-back Andy Todd has sustained a leg injury in training, while striker Francis Jeffers is doubtful through illness.

Reading (6) v Man Utd (2)

Reading striker Kevin Doyle is fit after missing training sessions following a dead leg in last week's victory at Sheffield United. Striker Dave Kitson and defender Sam Sodje (both knee) remain sidelined, along with long-term absentee Aaron Brown (broken ankle).

Gabriel Heinze returns to the Manchester United squad for the first time this season since returning from the World Cup less than fully fit. Mikael Silvestre (ankle), Ryan Giggs (hamstring) and Park Ji-Sung (ankle) are out but Alan Smith and Nemanja Vidic are available.

Wigan (15) v Watford (19)

Wigan manager Paul Jewell has almost a full squad to choose from for the game with Watford at the JJB Stadium. Long-term casualties Ryan Taylor and Steve McMillan are out along with Lee McCulloch, who has a knee injury. Chris Kirkland, Arjan de Zeeuw, Henri Camara, Emile Heskey and Antonia Valencia all due to start after missing the Carling Cup defeat to Crewe.

Adrian Boothroyd rested virtually all his first-team players for the midweek win over Accrington in the Carling Cup, but his key men should all return as Watford look for their first Premiership win of the campaign. Goalkeeper Ben Foster, defender Malky Mackay, midfielders Gavin Mahon and Damien Francis, and forwards Marlon King and Ashley Young are all likely to be restored, but defenders Clarke Carlisle (chest infection) and Chris Powell (calf) remain sidelined.

Sunday

Newcastle (10) v Everton (4)

Newcastle defenders Titus Bramble (knee and ankle) and Steven Taylor (foot) have returned to training and are hoping to be fit. Manager Glenn Roeder will make a late check on striker Shola Ameobi, whose long-standing hip injury continues to be a concern.

Everton boss David Moyes is waiting on the fitness of Joseph Yobo and David Weir, both of whom have back injuries and who could join Alan Stubbs (knee) and James McFadden (hamstring) on the sidelines. Full-back Tony Hibbert and Victor Anichebe have picked up slight knocks but could be available.

Monday

Portsmouth (1) v Bolton (7)

New signings Niko Kranjcar, Andy Cole and Manuel Fernandes are all pressing for their Portsmouth Premiership debuts. The trio were given Carling Cup run-outs in midweek but manager Harry Redknapp is reluctant to change a winning team in the league.

Kevin Davies may return for Bolton wearing a face mask. The striker has been out for four weeks after fracturing his cheekbone against Charlton but played in training wearing a protective mask. Stelios Giannakopoulos, Quinton Fortune and Abdoulaye Faye will all have fitness tests but Tal Ben Haim and skipper Kevin Nolan have both been declared fit after knocks picked up last weekend against Middlesbrough.
