Reading have called a press conference for this afternoon when they are expected to reveal whether manager Steve Coppell will stay at the club.
Coppell delayed making a decision on his future following the Royals' relegation from the Barclays Premier League nine days ago.
Last week Coppell, who took over in 2003 and gained promotion to the top flight in 2006, admitted the continued backing of the club's fans could persuade him to stay at the helm.
"The fans' support does come into my thinking and I was delighted with the reception they gave me personally," he said.
"From that point of view, I feel blessed to be working for a club where I am appreciated. It's nice to work for a chairman (John Madejski) who wants me.
"I have to say I am delighted with the reaction. That support from the fans wouldn't have been there at any other club."
