Coach Frank Rijkaard called on Monday for more collective effort from Barcelona in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Schalke 04.

Rijkaard said his players failed to do their jobs properly when they lost 3-2 to Real Betis at the weekend after going two goals up.

The Dutchman said he was confident the twice former European champions could do better against Schalke despite being without the injured Ronaldinho, Deco and Lionel Messi.

"It is a collective problem," Rijkaard told a news conference. "It's the team, you can't point the finger at one part of it, or at one player.

"It was incredible we lost the game against Betis because we started so strongly and were comfortable. We didn't do our jobs properly. You go away with a bitter taste.

"Solutions? If we continue in our own style and play with intensity, trying to play the game in the opposition half and playing collectively then we can dominate any opponents for 90 minutes."
