Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur, according to the player's father, who was candidly dismissive of the London club’s hopes of signing his son.
With a reshaping of the Real squad predicted in the wake of the club signing Kaka and agreeing a fee with Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo, Dutchman Robben had been linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
Team-mates Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Gabriel Heinze have also been mooted as Spurs targets.
Robben's father, however, insists there is no chance of such a transfer taking place.
"Absolute nonsense," Hans Robben, told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. "We don't talk with Tottenham. At the moment we don't talk with any club. Of course, things can change overnight, but one thing is sure: Arjen will certainly not join Tottenham."
