Transfer News: After signing John Arne Riise earlier in the summer Roma look set to test Liverpool's desire to keep midfielder Yossi Benayoun after coach Luciano Spalletti admitted his interest in the Israeli today.

Spalletti is looking for two reinforcements and has identified Jeremy Menez of Monaco and Benayoun as his targets.

Roma, who finished second behind Internazionale last season in Serie A, are looking for replacements for Brazilian winger Mancini and Ludovic Giuly, who moved to the champions and Paris St Germain respectively.

"There will be two new signings," the 49-year-old coach told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. "The names? They're the names you've heard. Menez and Benayoun are both top class players.

"We need two players for each position," he continued. "When there's less pressure on the coach, he should know when the right moment is to change players."

Benayoun, however, has no desire to leave Anfield. "It is not true that I am about to leave Anfield," Benayoun told the Daily Star. "I see my future at Anfield.

"I want to stay and that is what will happen."

Everton, meanwhile, expect the transfer of striker Andrew Johnson to Fulham to be completed in the next 24 hours.

The original move had stalled over the weekend because Fulham were concerned about signs of an old ankle injury that showed up on a scan last week.

However, the deal is believed to have been restructured and the Toffees are confident he will move for fee which could rise to around £13million.

Owner and chairman Bill Kenwright also held talks with Everton officials in London last night in the wake of speculation that the theatre impresario wanted to put the club up for sale.

But Everton have played down that situation, insisting Kenwright's position is unchanged.

An Everton spokesman said: "As far as Bill is concerned, the club has been for sale for the last five years, this is nothing new.

"Bill has always said that he would sell the club if the right people with the right finance came along."
