Airtricity League review:Shamrock Rovers bounced back from European disappointment with their first win over rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park since September 2007.

Michael O’Neill’s side were second best against FC Copenhagen in their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, but they were well worth the win at the home of their great rivals tonight.

The three points came courtesy of Gary Twigg's head after Billy Dennehy whipped in a typical corner in the 66th minute.

Rovers were well worth the lead but Bohs sprung into life after the goal and should have equalised when Aidan Downes burst down the right and rounded Dan Murray, but his cross was sent over the bar from eight yards out by Ger O'Brien.

The two combined again to similar effect in injury time after Killian Brennan’s shot was parried to Downes, whose cross was headed over by O’Brien.

Rovers are back on the top of the table, level on points with Derry City but with a game in hand.

The Candystripes won 3-0 at Galway United, thanks to an Eamon Zayed brace and a second half goal from Patrick McEleney.

Dinny Corcoran and Philip Hand helped Drogheda United to a 2-1 win at the carlisle Grounds, where Danny McGuinness scored a late consolation for Bray.
