LOI round-up:With Derry City not in action until tomorrow evening, Shamrock Rovers were only able to extend their lead at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division by a single point following a scoreless draw at St Patrick's Athletic.

Bohemians missed the opportunity to make up ground and remain in third place after going down 1-0 at home to Dundalk despite dominating the game.

Elsewhere, UCD inflicted yet another defeat on Galway United, the Students’ 3-0 win putting clear daylight between them and the bottom two. Coming off the back of a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Derry, goals from Dean Marshall and a Darren Meehan brace got UCD back to winning ways.

Meanwhile, defending champions Sligo Rovers have been drawn at home to Limerick minnows Pike Rovers in the first round of the FAI Cup.

“We're delighted with the draw. To be drawn at home first is important. Pike Rovers is a new name to me,” said Sligo manager Paul Cook. “We'll have to do a bit of research on them. These games are very important to clubs. We'll have to do our homework and act in the utmost professional manner.”

Tonight’s draw pitted the majority of the top flight teams against lower league opposition with Dundalk’s meeting with Galway United the only all-Premier League clash. Last year’s beaten finalists, Shamrock Rovers, kick off at home to Athlone Town.
