Shamrock Rovers have signed former Cameroon international Joseph Ndo on loan from St Patrick's Athletic.

Shamrock Rovers have signed former Cameroon international Joseph Ndo on loan from St Patrick's Athletic.

The club confirmed the capture this morning along with the news that they have loaned Barry Ferguson to Sporting Fingal.

Dessie Baker was loaned to Dundalk earlier in the week.

Ndo joins the Hoops until at least the end of the season and the midfielder is looking forward to being part of a team he has been admiring for some time.

"For some time I have been looking in admiration at Shamrock Rovers", said the Cameroonian. "They have been going in the right direction over the last couple of years and they are a club that is serious about its future.

"They have some really good players, they are moving to Tallaght next year - which is very exciting - and their fans are the most dedicated in Ireland. I look forward to playing for them".

Rovers manager Pat Scully believes Ndo will make a "massive contribution".

"This is a very good signing for us and I'm delighted to welcome a player of Joseph Ndo's quality to Shamrock Rovers", he said. "It's a clear indication that we're moving up to the next level.

"Everyone knows how good a player he is, but when I sat down to talk with Joseph I was equally impressed by his attitude. He's very aware of what we're at and how we do things at this club.

"I feel he can make a massive contribution, and will be a very good influence at the club and on the younger players at Shamrock Rovers".

Bohemians, meanwhile, have signed Lithuanian international Mindaugas Kalonas from FK Riga. The midfielder impressed manager Pat Fenlon when playing against Bohemians in the recent Intertoto cup game, and he has agreed to join the club until the start of December.

Kalonas, 24, has represented Lithuania at senior level 31 times and played in the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Scotland, Italy and France.

The well-travelled midfielder spent time at Dinamo Moscow, Saturn Moscow, SC Braga in Portugal and Liepaja Metalurgs before joining FK Riga.

It remains unclear if Kalonas will be cleared in time to play in tomorrow evening's Premier Division clash against Cobh Ramblers.
