Man Utd 2 Blackburn 1 (Agg: 3-2):  A David-versus-Goliath Carling Cup final will take place at the Millennium Stadium on February 26th after Manchester United booked their place against Wigan.

Despite the best efforts of Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel, Alex Ferguson's side are into their sixth final after goals either side of the break from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Louis Saha.

Steven Reid gave Blackburn a glimmer of hope after Van Nistelrooy made an early breakthrough but Saha's love affair with the competition continued with his fifth goal in four league cup ties this season.

In a highly-charged, but disappointing tie,  Van Nistelrooy, making his first League Cup start since United's 2003 losing final appearance, fired the home side into an eighth-minute lead.

But Republic of Ireland international Reid levelled just past the half-hour with a low drive from just inside the box.

Friedel dived to his right to superbly beat away Van Nistelrooy's penalty just before half-time but was beaten on 51 minutes when Saha volleyed home Wayne Rooney's cross.
