Struggling sports broadcaster Setanta Sport called in administrators today after efforts to rescue the business in Britain failed. The broadcaster insists the move will not affect it’s Irish operation.
The firm, which has been hit by the loss of football television rights in England and Scotland, will go off-air to viewers in Britain shortly, administrator Deloitte said.
The wind-down of Setanta’s British business, which has 420 staff, will mean 200 job losses, it said.
Setanta’s Irish and international businesses continue to trade while talks with possible buyers are under way, Deloitte said.
