This evening's Premier Division game between Shamrock Rovers and Waterford United at Tolka Park had to be abandoned after 52 minutes when a floodlight pylon became unearthed due to high winds.
The pylon began swaying shortly after the teams had returned to the pitch to begin the second half. Referee Declan Hanney called an immediate halt to the game after inspecting the problem with safety officers
The teams were tied at one goal apiece prior to the match being abandoned with Vinny Sullivan slotting home for Waterford after just four minutes before Danny O'Connor headed home the equaliser in the 32 minute.
However, neither goal will count as the game is to be rescheduled at a later date and played from the start.
