Shelbourne 4-0 FC Vetra (agg 5-0): Shelbourne eased their way into the second round of qualifying for the Intertoto Cup with four-nil thumping of eight-man FC Vetra at Tolka Park this evening.

The Lithuanian visitors displayed a distinct lack of discipline and had their first player sent-off (Raliukonis) after just four minutes when Glen Crowe was brought down when straight through on goal.

Vetra's two other players were sent-off (Karcemarskas and Vezevicius) for second yellows on the stroke of half-time and 20 minutes into the second half.

In truth, the game wasn't much of a contest for Shelbourne and it resembled a training session more than a European qualifying fixture.

A miscued cross from Bobby Ryan got the home side off the mark in the 36th minute before Jason Byrne found the net twice and Glen Crowe scored a fourth.

Byrne got up well at the near post to head home from a corner for his first after 65 minutes. Three minutes later Crowe got in on the act, at which point Shels' were in complete control.

In the 90th minute Crowe looked to have secured his second when he beat the Vetra 'keeper but the ball was cleared off the line. However, the defender's efforts only got as far as Byrne who made no mistake second time around.

Having ran out five-nil winner's on aggregate, Shelbourne will now travel to Denmark next week to play Odense in the first leg of the second qualifying round. Before that they take on St Patrick's Athletic in the league at Tolka Park on Tuesday night.
