Soccer:Dundalk's financial misery was compounded on the pitch this evening when they slumped to a 4-0 Airtricity League Premier Division defeat to Shelbourne at Tolka Park.
Seán McCaffrey’s side went behind to Philly Gorman’s first of two after 30 minutes when he headed home following Peter Cherrie’s save from Philly Hughes.
Gorman doubled the lead with a fine header in the 52nd minute, this time from Gareth Mathews’s cross after the full-back burst forward.
Kevin Dawson got the third 11 minutes later when he beat Cherrie at the near post after latching on to Gorman’s throughball. The rout was rounded off shortly afterwards when Dawson’s scuffed shot was deflected in by the unfortunate Ben McLaughlin.
