Sligo Rovers 5
Crusaders 0
(Sligo win 9-1 on aggregate)
Sligo Rovers cruised into the Setanta Cup semi-finals for a fifth successive year after a 5-0 hammering of Crusaders at the Showgrounds.
Danny North scored two on the night, while Ross Gaynor, Evan McMillan and debutant Liam Flatley were also on the mark for Sligo, who also missed a penalty.
Rovers took the lead after 11 minutes, when McMillan firstly headed against the bar from a corner, before forcing the ball over the line with his second attempt.
The second arrived on 34 minutes, when a miskick by Crusaders goalkeeper Yohann Lacroix allowed North in for a tap-in.
He doubled his contribution just seven minutes later, when Kalen Spillane’s shot was deflected into his path and he smashed the ball home from close range.
Rovers should have had a fourth before the break, but Gaynor’s penalty was turned around the post by Lacroix.
It was the goalkeeper’s last involvement as he was replaced by Seán O’Neill at the break, and Crusaders started the second half brightly with Eamonn McAllister forcing a save from Richard Brush three minutes in.
But normal service resumed as Gaynor redeemed himself for the penalty miss by curling a free-kick into the top corner from the edge of the box after North was fouled.
Flatley got a debut goal with five minutes remaining to round off the night.
