Soccer: Shamrock Rovers will have to wait until at least Monday to be crowned 2011 Airtricity League of Ireland champions after Sligo Rovers kept the pressure on with a 3-0 win over Bohemians at Dalymount on Friday night.

A win over UCD at Belfield in three days time will be enough for Rovers to retain their title with one league game against Galway United to go, but Sligo are still very much in the running, a point behind Michael O’Neill’s side, after a second half brace from Eoin Doyle and a 75th minute Matthew Blinkhorn goal.

Derry City are out of the running, however, after a 1-1 draw against St Patrick’s Athletic left them four adrift with one to play. They did, however, secure European football for next season, though they were made to sweat as Stephen Bradley hit the post with a penalty in the last minute.

Stephen McLaughlin’s cheeky 73rd minute strike, after he stole the ball from Pat’s goalkeeper Chris Bennion as he prepared to kick it out, equalised Sean O’Connor’s first half goal to ensure they left Inchicore with the point that copper-fastened third.

Johnny Breen's fifth minute goal was enough for Dundalk to pick up three points against Drogheda at Oriel Park, while Galway United were hammered at home by Bray Wanderers, who were four up before the break and left Terryland Park with six goals from six different scorers that included 40-year-old Colm Tresson.

Tresson scored the third after Jake Kelly and Conor Murphy netted, and Kieran Waters added the fourth in seven disastrous minutes for the homeside.

Graham Kelly and Shane O'Neill added insult to injury in the second half.
