Soccer:Sligo Rovers maintained their lead at the top of the Airtricty Premier Division with a 3-0 victory over Shelbourne. A brace of goals from Danny North was complemented by a stunning effort from substitute Pascal Millien, who beat two players before rifling a shot from the axis of the penalty area into the top corner.

St Patrick’s Athletic retained second place following a thrilling 3-3 at the Carlisle Grounds where Bray Wanderers denied the visitors victory when Jason Byrne struck for the second time in the match in the third minute of injury time.

The home side twice led with goals from Byrne but each time St Pat’s came back with goals from Christy Fagan and Sean O’Connor before John Russell put them ahead 3-2. Byrne’s late strike earned a share of the spoils in a pulsating game.

Shamrcok Rovers are third on gaol difference following a 3-1 victory over Drogheda United at the Tallaght stadium. Gary McCabe opened the scoring before Gary Twigg netted a brace and the Drogs only consolation coming in a late effort from Declan O’Brien.

In last night’s other Premier League fixtures, Derry City travelled to Dalymount and beat their hosts Bohemians 2-1 with goals from Stephen McLaughlin and Patrick McEleney. Keith Ward replied in injury time for the home side.

Cork City beat UCD 4-2 while bottom of the table Monaghan United managed an excellent 2-1 away victory against the side just above them in the table Dundak
