Soccer:With St Patrick's Athletic in Europa League action last night, Sligo Rovers were able to close the gap on the league leaders with their 3-0 win away to Bray Wanderers.
The key for Rovers was an early brace from Matthew Blinkhorn, who found the Bray goal twice in six minutes - the opener at the Carlise Grounds came after just three minutes.
Sligo were good value for their win and Eoin Doyle put the icing on the cake with the third in the 84th minute to leave Rovers just one point behind league leaders St Pat's, who have a game in hand. They also moved ahead of Shamrock Rovers who didn't play tonight.
Derry City were also 3-0 away winners against Drogheda United at Hunky Dorys Park. And with a certain symmetry to Sligo's win, Eamon Zayed got on the scoresheet twice for the Candystripes.
The opener came in the ninth minutes but Zayed had to wait until the 91st minute for his second. Gareth McGlynn scored Derry's second with 15 minutes remaining.
There were goals galore at Terryland Park where UCD edged Galway United 4-3 in a game that could have gone either way.
Dean Marshall scored for the students from the penalty spot after nine minutes before Alan Murphy equalised six minutes later.
A Graham Rusk double either side of the half hour mark gave UCD the lead before Bobby Ryan pulled one back for United two minutes before the break.
When Murphy converted a penalty for the home side on 81 minutes, there was tension for the visitors, who held on for the win.
Elsewhere Bohemians were 3-1 winners away to Dundalk. Christy Fagan, Ger O'Brien and Anthony Flood scored the Gypsie goals while Mark Griffin was on target for Dundalk.
