Uefa round-up:Holders Sevilla withstood a brave Tottenham fightback to draw 2-2 at White Hart Lane and move into the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Leading 2-1 from the first leg of the quarter-final, the Spaniards seemed to have ended the contest as they tore Spurs to shreds inside the opening eight minutes.

Steed Malbranque sliced a goalbound header from Christian Poulsen into his own net after two minutes and then former Spurs striker Frederic Kanoute brilliantly made it 2-0 to the Spanish title challengers after being played in by Alexander Kerzhakov.

Needing four goals, Tottenham were given a glimmer of hope when substitute Jermain Defoe scored with his first touch after 65 minutes and then Aaron Lennon made it 2-2 two minutes later when he poked the ball past keeper David Cobeno.

As Tottenham sensed a great escape Dimitar Berbatov wasted a good chance to put them ahead but Sevilla held on to set up a meeting with fellow Spanish club Osasuna as they attempt to become only the second team to retain the Uefa Cup.

Spurs finished with 10 men after Finnish midfielder Teemu Tainio was sent off in stoppage time.

Osasuna coasted into the semis after a 1-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen gave them a 4-0 aggregate scoreline.

Espanyol's progress at the expense of Benfica ensures that Spain will definitely have a team in the final.  The Barcelona based side held the Portuguese to a scoreless draw having won 3-2 in the first leg.

Espanyol will now face Werder Bremen in the semis after the Germans beat Dutch side AZ Alkmaar 4-1 at home, having secured a nil all draw in Holland.
