Celtic manager Gordon Strachan claims there are players who could learn from Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady's dedication to self-improvement.

The new PFA Scotland player of the year has shown dazzling form for Celtic this season, moving him well ahead of the likes of Derek Riordan, his one-time rival for a place on the left flank, in Strachan's plans.

"Aiden has gone to a different level," said Strachan. "There are a number of reasons, but he's listened and that's a great thing.

"He's worked on his shape and there are other people with similar ability in the game, who don't work hard enough. They think that ability is enough, but it's not."

One of those could be Scott Brown who Strachan insists is not guaranteed a recall for Sunday's Old Firm clash with Rangers despite being free from suspension.

In Brown's absence, former Dundee United captain Barry Robson has slotted into the centre of midfield and helped Celtic to victories over Motherwell, Rangers and Aberdeen.

"Scott is back and that gives me a dilemma. If you don't win the three games, the decision is a bit easier, but we did win the games," Strachan told Celtic View.

"It was a self-inflicted wound for Scott," said Strachan.

Meanwhile, Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar, who was dismissed when Celtic beat their Old Firm rivals 2-1 last week, has condemned the "stupid" and "crazy" Scottish Premier League plans which have left Rangers with a punishing run of matches.

The SPL agreed to extend the league season by four days if Rangers reach the Uefa Cup final, which takes place on May 14th.

But under those plans Rangers would have to play their final two SPL matches and the Scottish Cup final in the space of five days, and Cuellar believes they need a longer extension.
