Soccer:Irish assistant coach Marco Tardelli gave a clean bill of health to Shay Given and Richard Dunne at Malahide today ahead of Ireland's European qualifier against Estonia in Tallin on Friday.

Dunne had been suffering from a knee issue and Given a back problem but following the scheduled session at Gannon Park, Tardelli was more clear about the fitness of the two players.

“Yeah, the players are fit. Dunne (Richard) and Shay (Given) are both okay,” said the assistant coach, despite neither of players taking part in the session.

Keith Fahey did take part in the morning run and came through without concern.

“Fahey is fine he played well in training. Tomorrow morning the team will watch videos of the Estonians but we know already there are strong physically, good technically and they have a good balance to their team. It will be tough for us but everything is possible,” said Tardelli.

With regard to the team selection, Tardelli said that their minds were clear about the starting line-up with just one exception, Stoke City striker Jon Walters or the 28-year-old West Brom’ player Simon Cox.

“We have only one doubt regarding Walters or Cox,” added Tardelli. “The other places are okay.”

On whether Stephen Kelly would play at right back, Tardelli suggested he would.

“He played against Armenia and he played well. I think that’s okay,” said the Italian.
