Chelsea captain John Terry has signed a new contract until the end of the 2013/14 season. The 28-year-old England skipper, the club's most successful captain, has been at the club since the age of 14 and is now believed to be earning around €170,000 a week
Terry’s future was the subject of fevered speculation during the summer after Manchester City manager Mark Hughes made clear his desire to bring the England captain to Eastlands.
While Terry’s head was undoubtedly turned, he eventually proclaimed himself happy to remain in London and today’s news, according to Chelsea, is proof he and the club are co-habiting peacefully again.
“This reaffirms both John's and Chelsea's long stated desire for John to be at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his playing career,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
