Giovanni Trapattoni has drafted both James McCarthy and Jonathan Walters into a revised Republic of Ireland starting line-up for this evening's World Cup qualifier against Sweden in Stockholm.

McCarthy comes into the centre of midfield for the injured Glenn Whelan after the Stoke man suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury in training.

With Whelan ruled out, Trapattoni has also decided to deploy Stoke striker Walters on the right flank instead of Robbie Brady to add some solidity to his formation.
