“The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that the Independent Disciplinary Committee has reached a finding following its hearing regarding complaints of racist behaviour directed at Eamon Zayed,” a statement raed this afternoon.

“Shamrock Rovers are not being sanctioned in respect of the complaint regarding their fans as there was no corroborative evidence in relation to the complaint.

“The Independent Committee found that based on the evidence before them, Shamrock Rovers player Chris Turner should be sanctioned with a three-match suspension for offensive behaviour under rule 88.”

St Patrick’s Athletic were also fined €200 by the FAI after “racist comments” were directed at Zayed by a “small number of supporters”, four days prior to the Turner incident at Tallaght Stadium on June 10th.

“The Independent Committee commended the actions of St Patrick’s Athletic management who have dealt with this tiny minority in a very proactive manner.”
