Uefa will wait until tomorrow before announcing Benfica midfielder Augustin Binya's punishment for his dangerous foul on Celtic's Scott Brown.

Uefa's control and disciplinary body met today to discuss the incident involving Binya, and several other cases. However a very late finish at their headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, prompted officials to delay an announcement of the verdict until the morning.

The clubs will be notified of the outcome initially, before detail of the punishment is made public.

Binya's case has been dealt with, and he is thought unlikely to escape with the mandatory one-match ban for a red card. Reports in the Portuguese press indicated he could be looking at a five-match suspension.

The lunge which resulted in Binya being sent off at Parkhead on November 6th, in the Champions League Group D match, was condemned yesterday by Scotland manager Alex McLeish as "an absolutely shocking tackle".

Binya was shown a straight red card by Swedish referee Martin Hansson in the closing stages of Celtic's 1-0 win. Hansson described the tackle as one of the worst he had seen, while Brown claimed the Cameroon-born player had tried to break his leg.
