European round-up: Manchester United booked a place in the Champions League knockout stages with a routine 4-0 Group F victory over Dynamo Kiev at Old Trafford. Arsenal collected the point they needed to advance with a scoreless draw in Prague.
The Red Devils - who were this week celebrating 21 years since Alex Ferguson's appointment - coasted to their fourth successive win in the competition thanks to first-half goals by Gerard Pique and Carlos Tevez and second-half strikes by Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kiev, without an away win in the Champions League since March 2000, started brightly and saw Carlos Correa fire a 25-yard shot past Edwin van der Sar's post.
But United soon got into their stride with Ronaldo, Darren Fletcher and Nani all trying their luck without success.
And the Reds had the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when Pique headed home from 10 yards after the ball had broken kindly to him in the area following Ronaldo's free-kick.
Nemanja Vidic then headed Nani's left-wing corner over the bar, but just six minutes later the did double their lead when Tevez intercepted Correa's pass, played a one-two with Rooney, and then fired home an unstoppable shot.
Tevez had a good chance to make it 3-0 early in the second half, but the ball was wipped away from him as he was about to pull the trigger while Kiev almost pulled one back when Marjan Markovic's cross narrowly failed to pick out Rincon at the far post.
Olexandr Shovkovskiy then had to be alert to deny first Tevez and then Danny Simpson as United piled on the pressure.
The third arrived in the 77th minute when Nani's right-wing cross was sidefooted home by Rooney and Ronaldo wrapped things up late on when he cut inside and drilled a great shot into the corner of the Kiev goal.
United could have scored more but Ferguson will be more than happy with his side's victory and subsequent progress into the last 16.
Arsenalcollected the point they needed to reach the Champions League's last 16 after a 0-0 draw against Slavia Praguein the Czech Republic.
A much-changed Gunners side - without rested key man Cesc Fabregas - were unable to break down the hosts, who had let in seven at Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago.
Mickael Tavares had a decent early chance for Slavia, but headed well over from a corner.
Arsenal created little in the first half and when they did break down the right through Theo Walcott, the teenager's final delivery towards Niclas Bendtner in the middle was poor and failed to clear the first defender.
With the rain lashing down in the second half at the Stadion Evzena Rosickeho, the hosts felt they had a strong penalty claim on 50 minutes when Lassana Diarra looked to have pulled back Zdenek Senkerik, but the referee waved away appeals.
Manuel Almunia was called into action midway through the half as Senkerik ran through and attempted to lift the ball over the Arsenal goalkeeper, who stood tall to deny the Slavia forward.
Emmanuel Adebayor was introduced in the closing stages but headed his only real chance straight at Prague shot-stopper Michal Voral.
The officials found five minutes of stoppage time to play and Arsenal pushed for a winner, but ultimately it ended goalless - a result that puts Arsene Wenger's men into the knockout stages, with Group H rivals Sevilla - 2-0 winners away to Steaua Bucharest - a point behind in second place.

Barca's two goals came at either end of the first half, with Thierry Henry opening the scoring in the fifth minute and Lionel Messi then doubling the lead in the 43rd minute.

but a mixture of poor finishing and superb goalkeeping by Allan
McGregor kept the scoreline down.
