Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will not face criminal charges in his native Holland following an investigation into rape allegations.
The public prosecutor in Rotterdam confirmed today that Van Persie, who spent a fortnight in custody last summer after a woman claimed he launched a sex attack on her, would not have to stand trial.
A statement from the Public Prosecution Service declared: “The public prosecutor has decided to dismiss the case involving a 22-year old Rotterdam man who was suspected of rape.
“The man was arrested in June after the claim of rape from a 25-year old Rotterdam woman.”
