The 25-year-old Spanish international has been a target of top English clubs for the past year, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool said to be most keen.

"My wish is to stay here," said Villa. "Not only this year but in the future because I am under contract and I hope I can extend it.  In any case, we will have to wait and see what happens this summer."
