Neil Warnock insists he is now prepared to return to management in any division if that is what it takes to get a job.

The former Sheffield United boss who stepped down in May after more than seven years at Bramall Lane is yet to find a new employer despite being linked with clubs including Manchester City, Leicester and Hearts.

The 58-year-old revealed he is still driven by the challenge of leading a side to promotion and is confident he can secure a position in the near future.

"As long as it's a club I'm not bothered where it is or what division. It's just a challenge that I want to get a club back up," he told Sky Sports News.

"Unfortunately it's got to be someone who owns the club who wants that type of manager, I'm sure somewhere there will be one."

Warnock had initially expressed his desire to stay in the Premiership and was thought to be in the running for the Man City job, but former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is now the favourite to take charge after Thaksin Shinawatra gained a controlling interest in City.

Asked whether he could do a better job than the Swede, he replied with a grin: "That's a little bit of a pointed question, isn't it? The answer is yes."
