MUNSTER SENIOR SCHOOLS CUP: Rockwell 15 Crescent 5Holders Rockwell made a significant first defence of the Munster title at Clanwilliam yesterday as they launched their bid for a third successive win in the competition.
Played in blustery conditions, the game produced three tries but the respective place-kickers had difficulty in the conditions. Crescent Comprehensive, another of the competition heavyweights, got off to a great start when winger Jason O’Sullivan had a splendiod try after 15 minutes.
Rockwell needed only minutes to cut the deficit when centre Rory Parata kicked a penalty and they turned over with a 10-5 lead thanks to a try by outhalf Aidan Moynihan, which Parata converted.
Rockwell were the stronger side in the second half and added another try when fullback Steve McMahon touched down.
